This article, written by Kathleen Mullan Harris and Suzanne Ryan, discusses the different nuances of family depending on father involvement. Though this article doesn’t necessary touch upon race, sexuality, or gender, it discusses the diversity of family depending on if the father is involved with the family or not. For example, there are families with full involvement of the father. On the other hand, there may be families that do not have a father or a father that shows up only occasionally. There are also families in which the fathers play an in-between role in the family.

Though this article does not deal with the typically issues of diversity, it touches upon the hidden facts of diversity that not many people may think about. For example, families without a father-like figure often face adversities in life because the children or other parent will have to deal with potentially a lack of love. This article is important to address because we must face even the faintest problems of diversity, which may include not-so-obvious facts such as this. If we can realize the importance of even the smallest of issues of diversity, we would be able to expand the inclusion of diversity even further than just race, sexuality, gender, etc.
